A former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Adewole Adebayo, says President Bola Tinubu would have been a beggar by now if he was in government 50 years ago.
Adebayo stated this on Wednesday while responding to questions in an interview on Trust TV.
He was speaking on the hardship Nigerians have faced since the coming on board of Tinubu as president in May 29, 2023.
“Many of the people you see at the National Assembly today, if it’s not because of the government of their time, they would have been at the farm or following cattle.
“I am telling you today, if Tinubu was in government 50 years ago, he himself will be a beggar right now.
“If there was no Ahmadu Bello, late President Muhammadu Buhari would not have joined the army. He would be following cattle. Ibrahim Babangida would have been a school teacher somewhere if at all.
“So, what I’m saying is that you cannot run a government that leads majority of your people away.
“It’s like leaving the people behind or sitting on top of gold mines that you only need to dig like four feets and you will reach gold worth trillions of naira and you cover it with dirts,” he said.
