Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can be defeated in a future election, stating that the party believes the current direction of the country is causing hardship for many Nigerians.
In an interview with The Sun Nigeria on Sunday, May 10, 2026, Abdullahi explained that the party’s position is based on their assessment of governance under the present administration, he argued that many Nigerians are struggling with rising cost of living, unemployment, and economic pressure, according to him, these challenges show that the country needs a change in leadership and direction.
Abdullahi further stated that the opposition believes President Tinubu is politically beatable if Nigerians are presented with a strong and united alternative, he stressed that the goal is not only to criticise the government but to offer solutions and added that elections are decided by voters who want real improvement in their lives.
According to him, the key factor in any election is credibility, he said Nigerians are more likely to support leaders who present clear plans for economic recovery and social development and insisted that the opposition must focus on unity and trust if it wants to win against the ruling party.
He maintained that the ADC is confident about the future political direction of Nigeria, he said that while the challenges facing the country are serious, they are not permanent, he explained that democratic competition allows citizens to choose better leadership when they are given the right options.
”President Tinubu is beatable and we believe, because we are convinced that what he’s doing is hurting Nigeria and that Nigeria cannot continue the way it is currently going on under his leadership. And we know that all we have to do is to give Nigerians a credible alternative,” he said.
