BREAKING: There Is No Way Atiku & Amaechi Will Go Into A Contest And Amaechi Will Defeat Atiku – Ideho Reveals

In a recent interview on TVC News, on Friday, May 29, 2026, Charles Ideho, Head of station, Jordan 105.5 FM, shared his views on the controversy surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election and the political rivalry between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reacting to Amaechi’s rejection of the ADC presidential primary results, Ideho stated that the former Rivers State governor faced a difficult challenge contesting against a politician with Atiku’s level of national influence and political experience. He argued that Atiku had spent decades building relationships and structures across different parts of the country, making him one of the strongest opposition figures in Nigeria.

Speaking during the programme, Ideho stated, “There is no way Atiku and Amaechi will go into a contest and Amaechi will defeat Atiku.” He made the remark while discussing the outcome of the ADC presidential primary and the allegations of irregularities raised by Amaechi after the exercise.

According to Ideho, Atiku’s political strength goes beyond popularity, as the former vice president has remained active in national politics for several years and has consistently maintained influence across different regions. He noted that Atiku’s long-standing involvement in political movements and alliances gave him an advantage over many younger contenders within the opposition coalition.

Ideho also maintained that although Amaechi is an experienced politician with a strong background in governance, the ADC primary election was always likely to favor Atiku because of his broader political reach and established support base. He added that Atiku approached the contest with the mindset of a politician making what could be his final attempt at the presidency.

The discussion further examined allegations by Amaechi and some of his supporters that the primary election figures were manipulated. Ideho argued that such claims should be backed with verifiable evidence and formally presented to the party leadership rather than being left in the public domain without proof.

He further advised members of the ADC to prioritize unity and reconciliation following the primary election. According to him, opposition parties hoping to challenge the ruling APC in 2027 must avoid prolonged internal conflicts capable of weakening public confidence in their platform.

Ideho concluded by urging political actors within the ADC to close ranks and focus on strengthening the party ahead of the next general election, stressing that unity would be essential if the coalition hopes to mount a serious challenge in 2027.
