According to a report by PUNCH on 30th April 2026, a video purportedly depicting officers from Edo State Police Command engaging in the harassment of an individual has gone viral on social media.
The footage, which started circulating on X showed a scene where at least five officers in uniform are surrounding a person lying on the ground near a white bus. In the recording, one officer is observed pulling the person’s legs, while another is seen striking him with a plastic pipe, illustrating an apparent act of brutality.
Despite the individual’s evident struggle and resistance, he is quickly overpowered by the group of officers present in the footage.
In response to the circulating footage, the Edo State Police Command has publicly acknowledged its existence and confirmed that an investigation is currently ongoing.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, addressed the situation on X, providing a brief update by stating that the authorities are already handling the matter. She mentioned that the video had been shared with the CRU Benin, and that the team is actively working to identify the officers involved in the incident.
