According to a report by Independent Newspaper on Tuesday 2nd June 2026, tensions have intensified within the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) as five governorship aspirants have jointly demanded the immediate resignation of the state party chairman, Dr. Moses Alake Adeyemo, over allegations of bias and misconduct during the party’s internal processes.
The aspirants — Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, Prince Musbau Asatola Asanike, Dr. Ololade Usman Bakare, Barr. Akeem Agbaje, and Engr. Akeem Oyedele Alao — made their position known in a communique issued after a meeting held on June 1, 2026.
In the statement, they accused the chairman of compromising internal democracy by allegedly favouring a particular aspirant ahead of the governorship primary; They also claimed he directed local government party officials to work towards a predetermined outcome, a move they described as a breach of neutrality.
The group further faulted what they described as the premature declaration of a governorship candidate before the official announcement by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), insisting that such action violated due process and created confusion among party members.
They also expressed displeasure over the chairman’s conduct following a Sallah meeting with the President, alleging that he publicly endorsed an aspirant and displayed clear partisanship by raising the candidate’s hand as the party’s flag bearer.
According to the aspirants, these actions have deepened internal divisions within the party and risk repeating past electoral setbacks experienced in 2019 and 2023; They also raised concerns about poor coordination during the primaries, including inadequate briefing of aspirants and logistical shortcomings that they say affected the credibility of the process.
The aspirants warned that dissatisfaction within the party structure has already led to increasing defections, which they believe could weaken the APC’s electoral strength if not urgently addressed.
They therefore called on the APC National Working Committee and other relevant stakeholders to intervene by ensuring the immediate resignation of the state chairman, stressing that restoring trust and fairness is essential for party unity and future electoral success.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor.
