BREAKING: No Cause for Friction Between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan – Aide
According to a report by The Nation on Sunday, April 12, 2026, the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have dismissed allegations of a plot to remove the monarch, describing the claims as unfounded and politically motivated.
The response follows remarks by former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, who alleged that Governor Seyi Makinde was planning to dethrone the traditional ruler over his absence at a recent elevation ceremony in Ibadan.
Officials speaking on behalf of both the state government and the palace rejected the accusation, insisting that no such plan had been considered or discussed. They further criticised the origin of the claim, suggesting it lacked credibility and was driven by political interests.
Reinforcing the position of harmony between both parties, a palace aide stated, “I see no cause for friction between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland,” emphasising that there is no conflict to justify the speculation.
