According to a report by Al Jazeera on May 10, 2026, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the conflict with Iran is not yet concluded, arguing that Tehran still holds enriched uranium which, in his view, “has to be taken out” of the country. He also insisted that wider efforts remain necessary to curb Iran’s military capabilities.
Speaking in an interview with the CBS newsmagazine program, Netanyahu said, “There are still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled. There are still proxies that Iran supports. There are ballistic missiles that they still want to produce. Now, we’ve degraded a lot of it, but all that is still there, and there’s work to be done,” suggesting that Israel’s actions so far have not fully eliminated the perceived threats.
Netanyahu did not immediately clarify whether he was referring solely to Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched near-weapons-grade uranium, which is believed to be located underground in Isfahan, or to its broader reserves of enriched uranium. However, when questioned further on how such material could be removed, he replied, “You go in, and you take it out.”
His remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, with concerns continuing over Iran’s nuclear programme and its regional influence through allied groups. The Israeli leader’s comments reflect his position that significant elements of Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure remain intact despite previous strikes and pressure campaigns.
The statement also highlights continued uncertainty over how far Iran’s nuclear capabilities have been set back and whether diplomatic or military actions will be pursued further.
