A prominent opposition gathering in Nigeria witnessed strong rhetoric on governance, democracy, and citizen responsibility, as former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi addressed supporters with a call to action.

In a recent video on SYMFONI TV, speaking before a crowd that included notable political figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Amaechi criticised the current administration led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing it of undermining democratic principles and worsening economic conditions.

He pointed to rising hardship among citizens, noting the increasing cost of living and alleging that government policies were contributing to unemployment and financial strain. Amaechi also raised concerns about the independence and credibility of Nigeria’s electoral body, suggesting that recent decisions could weaken public trust in the democratic process.

Central to his speech was a direct appeal to Nigerians, especially younger citizens, to become more actively involved in defending their rights. Declaring his own long-standing participation in activism, he stated, “I am 60 years old and I have been protesting with you, it is now your turn to defend yourselves.”
