In a recent interview on Silverbird N24, Rivers Emancipation Movement (REM) National President Zoe Tamunotonye reflected on the ongoing political developments in Rivers State while discussing the rivalry between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former governor, now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
During the interview, Tamunotonye stated, “Fubara’s defection was a maneuver to bring him to a place where they can ambush him.” He made the remark while analyzing the political implications of the governor’s movement from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
He explained that the defection has significantly changed the political equation in Rivers State, exposing the governor to internal party struggles and strategic positioning by rival political actors.
According to him, the move was not merely a change of party affiliation but part of a broader political strategy that has reshaped alliances and intensified competition among key power blocs in the state.
Tamunotonye further argued that the governor’s earlier political strength within the PDP provided a more stable base, which has now been weakened by shifting alignments and competing interests within the APC structure.
He noted that the ongoing tension in Rivers politics reflects a wider problem in Nigeria’s democratic system, where defections and elite bargaining often determine political outcomes more than grassroots participation.
The REM president concluded by calling for stronger internal democracy and political transparency, warning that unless the system is rebalanced, the crisis in Rivers State may continue to deepen ahead of the 2027 elections.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
