According to a report by Manchester Evening News on Tuesday June 2, 2026, Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has highlighted Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as the club’s standout performers in the 2025/26 campaign, naming the duo as his pick for the team’s best players outside of captain Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes enjoyed a record-breaking season under Michael Carrick, particularly after a tactical switch that saw him move into a more advanced role in the second half of the campaign. The Portuguese midfielder went on to set a new Premier League assist record while also collecting multiple individual awards, including the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year.

However, when asked to identify other key contributors in the squad, Sesko pointed to two of United’s attacking recruits who made an immediate impact in their debut season at Old Trafford.

Speaking in a club media Q&A, the 23-year-old striker was asked to select his standout teammate of the season, with Fernandes not included as an option. Sesko chose to acknowledge both Cunha and Mbeumo, who were among United’s most consistent attacking performers across the campaign.

Both players were part of a newly assembled attacking group brought in during a major summer rebuild, and they quickly established themselves as regular starters under Carrick. Their contributions in front of goal helped United maintain strong attacking output throughout the season, with both reaching double figures in all competitions.

Cunha impressed with his movement and finishing ability, while Mbeumo provided pace and directness from wide areas, adding an extra dimension to United’s forward line. Their performances complemented Sesko’s own development, with the Slovenia international also enjoying a productive first season in England.

Sesko finished the campaign with 12 goals in all competitions and showed notable improvement in the second half of the season, coinciding with United’s tactical adjustments under Carrick. His link-up play with both Cunha and Mbeumo was a key feature of United’s attacking structure during that period.
