Former Presidential Adviser Udenta Udenta has said Nigeria is currently in a worse condition than it was during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, citing what he described as worsening national realities under the present government.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Udenta offered a critical assessment of the country’s current state, arguing that conditions have deteriorated beyond the challenges experienced during Buhari’s eight-year tenure. His comments come amid continued debates over economic hardship, insecurity and public dissatisfaction with governance.

Udenta said comparisons between the current administration and the Buhari era have become unavoidable, insisting that many Nigerians are facing deeper difficulties today. According to him, “We are worse off today than we were under Buhari presidency. That’s a reality presently.”

The former presidential adviser said the claim reflects growing frustration over the cost of living crisis, security concerns and broader socio-economic pressures confronting citizens. He argued that despite widespread criticism of the Buhari administration, the current situation has intensified concerns over the direction of governance.

His remarks add to ongoing political discourse over the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly as critics and supporters continue to debate the impact of ongoing reforms and policy decisions.

Udenta suggested that the worsening conditions require urgent policy responses and a reassessment of governance priorities. He maintained that public perception of decline cannot be dismissed, especially as many Nigerians continue to struggle with inflation, reduced purchasing power and uncertainty.
