In a recent interview with Daily Independent on Friday, April 10, 2026, Chief Ralph Nwosu, the founder and former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), played down concerns over the reported leadership crisis in the party, stating that there is no reason for panic within the ADC.
Nwosu made it clear that the party is not disturbed by the situation, according to him, the issue is not with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as an institution, but with its chairman, Joash Amupitan.
Nwosu alleged that Amupitan, whom he described as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is acting in a biased manner, he claimed that the INEC chairman appears to have been positioned to create confusion within the ADC.
The ADC founder stated that the current developments are artificial and do not reflect the true state of the party and insisted that there is no real crisis within the ADC, adding that any impression of instability is being deliberately manufactured.
He further explained that the party leadership remains intact and functional and maintained that ADC members across different levels are united and focused, despite what he described as external interference.
According to him, attempts to destabilize the party will not succeed and stressed that ADC is aware of the situation and will not be distracted by what he believes are politically motivated actions.
Nwosu noted that the party’s structure and operations remain unchanged, he said ADC continues to carry out its activities without disruption.
The former chairman expressed confidence that the party would overcome the situation, he reiterated that there is no internal breakdown, and that the party remains committed to its goals.
”For us, we are not alarmed, but I don’t want to say that it’s INEC; it’s Joash Amupitan, who is INEC chairman, he is an APC member, it seems that he has been deployed to create what does not exist in ADC,” he said.
