Former Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has officially declared his intention to run for president in the 2027 general elections under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), joining other prominent politicians like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi.
This was made known in a report published by VANGUARD on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Hayatu-Deen explained that his decision to join the presidential race was driven by the growing hardship many Nigerians are facing daily.
According to him, things have become increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens, as the cost of food continues to rise and fuel prices remain high, making life more challenging across the country.
He said the current situation in Nigeria is not what citizens deserve and stressed that the country needs a new direction.
He believes experienced and focused leadership is necessary to help stabilize the economy and improve the living conditions of the people.
The former NESG chairman also pointed out that many families are struggling just to meet basic needs, noting that survival has become a daily challenge for a large number of Nigerians.

“This is not the Nigeria we deserve. It is time to change course, and that is why I am stepping forward to seek the ADC presidential ticket.”
