Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and a former aide to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has highlighted measures taken by Fayose during his administration to address insecurity in Ekiti State.

Olayinka made the remarks in a post published on his official X account on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, amid ongoing public discussions on rising cases of kidnapping and insecurity across parts of Nigeria, particularly in the South-West region.

Referencing Fayose’s tenure as governor, Olayinka stated that the former governor took proactive steps to tackle security threats rather than waiting for intervention from the federal government: “When Ekiti State was invaded by kidnappers then, as Governor, Fayose did not wait for President Buhari.”

According to Olayinka, Fayose mobilised local resources and security personnel to confront the challenge. He said, “Rather, he did what he should do as a Governor. He mobilised local hunters. He mobilised security men, including soldiers.”

He also pointed to legislative measures introduced during the administration, particularly the prohibition of open grazing in the state. “Most importantly, Fayose made laws to BAN OPEN GRAZING in Ekiti, such that Fulani herders were not allowed to enter the State in the night and cattle rearers in Ekiti were identified,” he added.

Olayinka recalled an incident involving the killing of a pregnant woman at the Orin Ekiti Farm Settlement, which he said prompted decisive action from the then governor: “I remember when a pregnant woman was killed in Orin Ekiti Farm Settlement, Fayose summoned the stakeholders, including Fulani Leaders to the government house.”

He further alleged that the son of a Fulani community leader was linked to the incident and that Fayose demanded his appearance before authorities.

He stated, “Son of one of the Fulani leaders, Alhaji Abache was accused of being among those who killed the woman. Fayose mandated Alhaji Abache to produce his son within one week or leave Ekiti. Within three days, Abache brought the son.”

He also criticized what he described as the politicisation of insecurity, saying public discourse often focuses on emotions rather than accountability: “Like I have maintained, we can keep playing politics of emotions and sentiments with this issue of insecurity, especially in the South-West, when we are ready, we will hold our Governors accountable.”

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
