BREAKING: Wale Edun And Dangiwa Resigned, They Were Not Sacked —Presidency Breaks Silence, Shares Edun’s Letter
The Presidency has confirmed that the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, voluntarily resigned from their positions, contrary to reports suggesting they were removed from office.
This clarification was contained in a State House press release issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
According to the statement, Edun submitted his resignation to the President prior to the announcement of his replacement, citing health-related reasons. The statement noted that the former minister, who recently turned 70, formally tendered his resignation on his birthday.
“It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve your administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda”, his letter read. “Under your leadership, Nigeria has emerged stronger, more resilient and more internationally respected. I wish you and the administration every success in the future”, he added.
The Presidency further disclosed that before the official announcement of his departure, Edun paid a valedictory visit to the President at the Presidential Villa, where he held a meeting lasting about an hour before proceeding to focus on his private business engagements.
Similarly, Dangiwa was reported to have resigned from his position, expressing appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve in the Federal Executive Council.
The statement highlighted Dangiwa’s professional background, noting his previous role as Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank from 2015 to 2022, as well as his service as Secretary to the Katsina State Government prior to his appointment as minister in August 2023.
Edun’s career trajectory was also outlined, including his tenure as Lagos State Commissioner for Finance between 1999 and 2004 during the administration of then Governor Tinubu. The statement added that he had earlier worked at Chase Merchant Bank and later joined the World Bank through its Young Professionals programme, contributing to economic and financial initiatives across several countries.
The President expressed appreciation to both former ministers for their service and contributions to the administration’s economic reform agenda, while wishing them success in their future endeavours.
The statement also indicated that the newly appointed Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, has been tasked with advancing ongoing fiscal reforms. Additionally, a ministerial nominee for the housing portfolio, Muttaqha Rabe Darma, will be forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
