BREAKING: Ukraine Strikes Deep Into Moscow Region Using Domestically Built Drones

According to a report by Kyiv Post on Monday, May 18, 2026, long-range strikes by locally manufactured unmanned systems have attacked important industrial and energy infrastructure targets in Russia’s Moscow region, according to the Ukrainian General Staff.

On Sunday, May 17, Ukraine’s military leadership stated the operation targeted a microchip manufacturing plant and an oil pumping station to damage Russia’s military-industrial capacity in a Telegram statement.

Ukrainian forces used locally made RS-1 “Bars,” FP-1 “Firepoint,” and BARS-SM “Gladiator” unmanned vehicles, according to the study.

The General Staff stated coordinated forces used various long-range drone systems to strike deep inside Russia.

The “Bars” drone-missile, a mid-wing composite design with an 800-kilometer range and 100-kilogram payload, is designed for rapid manufacture utilising simpler manufacturing methods.

Long-range kamikaze drone FP-1 “Firepoint,” built with Ukrainian and European partners, is also employed. It supposedly can hit targets 1,600 miles away with 100-kilogram warheads. The approach uses cheap materials and simple assembly for large output.

The FP-1 platform is being upgraded to handle interceptor systems and other military applications, Ukrainian authorities said.

The 412th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade, 107th Rocket Artillery Brigade, and 19th “Saint Varvara” Missile Brigade participated in the coordinated action, according to the military.

Ukrainian authorities stated the Angstrom enterprise in Zelenograd was hit after the Moscow strikes. A vital part of Russia’s defence electronics industry, the plant makes precision-guided weapon microcircuits.

The incident also set fire to the Moscow ring oil pipeline network’s Solnechnogorsk oil pumping facility. Fuel distribution systems supporting Russian military logistics depend on the facility.

Ukrainian sources reported more strikes on Russian sites across numerous fronts, including Donetsk command posts, drone control centers in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson, and military concentrations in Zaporizhzhia and Kursk.

The General Staff said such actions will continue to counter Russian military activity.

“The Defence Forces of Ukraine will continue to systematically take measures to completely stop the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” the statement stated.

The SBU claimed credit for a weekend air assault targeting Moscow facilities, saying its special operations units coordinated strikes on strongly defended industrial and military targets.

SBU officers stated the assaults were part of a continuing attempt to pressure Russia’s military infrastructure and show Ukrainian strike capabilities.

Ukrainian officials claimed they attacked many critical Moscow targets, including energy and industrial infrastructure, while Russian authorities intercepted hundreds of drones across different regions.

Ukrainian sources reported problems at a Zelenograd semiconductor plant and fires at Moscow fuel infrastructure locations, which are linked to Russia’s defence and energy supply chains.
