BREAKING: Tinubu: He Told Me He Would Like To Emulate The Politics Of Yar’Adua Of Helping Financially – Lawal

Former Secretary General of the Federation Babachir Lawal has revealed that President Bola Tinubu privately told him he admired the political style of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, particularly his practice of financially supporting politicians to reach higher office.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Lawal said, “He also used to tell me he would like to emulate the politics of Yar’adua because, according to him, at that time he told me that when they were in the Senate, more than half of those senators of those days must have gone to the Senate with financial contributions from Yar’adua. Where he could not help politically, he helped financially, and so on and so forth. So he said he would like to emulate that.”

He alleged that Presiddnt Tinubu did not just speak about generosity he practised it, sponsoring candidates to the Senate from states as far as Borno, which Lawal described as a sign of genuine goodwill that stretched beyond regional interest.

He recalled supporting Tinubu’s governorship bid at a time when tensions within the party hierarchy ran high, and said what he saw during that period was a humble and humane individual.
