According to a report by The Sun on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has cautioned that ongoing disagreements over zoning arrangements ahead of the 2027 presidential election may ultimately strengthen President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances of re-election.

He made the remarks while speaking during an interview on Politics Today, where he addressed emerging political alignments within the opposition.

Momodu noted that continued disputes over regional power rotation could weaken the opposition’s overall structure if not properly managed.

He stressed that the debate around zoning should not be allowed to overshadow broader efforts aimed at building a united front capable of challenging the current administration in the next general election.

He further argued that opposition leaders would need to place greater emphasis on strategy, coordination, and political agreement rather than allowing regional sentiments to dominate discussions.

According to him, without a clear and unified approach, the chances of unseating the incumbent president could become increasingly difficult as the election approaches.

In his assessment, Momodu suggested that the opposition may have a stronger opportunity if it considers fielding a candidate from the northern region.

He implied that such a move could reshape the political equation and provide a more competitive pathway for the opposition in its bid to regain national power.

He also pointed to the political relevance of prominent northern figures within the opposition space, indicating that individuals such as Atiku Abubakar and Aminu Tambuwal could play significant roles if the opposition decides to pursue a northern-focused strategy.

His remarks were framed around the need for a realistic appraisal of electoral dynamics and available political strengths across regions.

Momodu additionally emphasized that failure to resolve internal divisions and competing interests within opposition ranks could lead to further fragmentation.

He maintained that such a scenario would likely consolidate advantage for the ruling party, particularly as political alliances continue to evolve ahead of 2027.

His comments highlighted the importance of unity and calculated decision-making within opposition parties as preparations for the election period continue.

He said, “If all of them are going to split themselves into pieces, and strategically, if they are serious now, they had better go and find an Atiku or a Tambuwal from the North, because that is the only place now that is free.”

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
