BREAKING: Sani Slams INEC Over April 1 ADC NWC Delisting, Calls Move Disrespectful to Nigerians
A fresh wave of political criticism has emerged following remarks by Shehu Sani, who accused the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of undermining public trust with a controversial decision announced on April 1st.
Sani alleged that the timing of INEC’s move to delist the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was not only insensitive but also symbolic of a broader disregard for Nigerians. According to him, choosing April Fools’ Day for such a significant political action sends the wrong message to citizens who already feel disillusioned with the country’s electoral processes.
The former senator argued that the decision raises questions about transparency and accountability within INEC. He suggested that many Nigerians interpret the timing as a sign that the commission does not take public perception seriously. In his view, such actions further erode confidence in democratic institutions, especially at a time when electoral credibility remains a critical concern.
INEC, however, has not publicly linked the timing of its decision to any symbolic meaning. The commission maintains that its actions are guided strictly by constitutional provisions and regulatory frameworks governing political parties. Delisting or recognizing party leadership structures, it says, follows due process and is based on compliance with established guidelines.
Despite this, Sani’s comments have resonated with sections of the public and political observers who believe that communication and timing are essential in governance. Critics argue that even if the decision itself was procedurally correct, the optics of announcing it on April 1st opened the door to unnecessary controversy and skepticism.
Supporters of INEC, on the other hand, contend that the focus should remain on the legality of the decision rather than the date it was made public. They insist that governance cannot be dictated by symbolism alone and that administrative actions must proceed regardless of public sentiment about specific dates.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
