BREAKING: Rotimi Amaechi Knows That Peter Obi Never Asked Him To Step Down For Him — Sen Umeh Speaks On Visit
Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has clarified details surrounding a recent meeting between Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, stating that both men openly acknowledged their presidential ambitions during the visit.
Umeh made the disclosure during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, April 20, 2026, while addressing speculation that the meeting involved pressure on one of the aspirants to step down.
According to him, the interaction at Amaechi’s residence was cordial and centered on national issues rather than political bargaining. He emphasized that there was no discussion suggesting that Obi asked Amaechi to withdraw from the presidential race.
“Obi rarely said anything anymore, you know. It was Rotimi Amaechi who started analyzing everything in Nigeria and all that. We were listening, you know, and the word has been given out that he’s also running,” Umeh stated.
He further clarified the nature of the engagement, stressing that both politicians were clear about their intentions. “Rotimi Amaechi knows that Peter Obi never asked him to step down for him. There was nothing like that in that meeting,” he said.
Umeh explained that the visit was part of broader consultations among political actors, which he described as a normal feature of democratic processes, especially ahead of elections.
“These are discussions among people who are interested in the same office. They talk, they exchange ideas, but it does not mean anybody is asking the other to step down,” he added.
The senator also highlighted that Amaechi played a leading role in the conversation, offering his perspectives on the state of the nation and ongoing political developments. According to Umeh, Obi maintained a more reserved stance during the meeting.
“He was the one analyzing the situation in the country, speaking extensively, and we listened. It was a very open discussion,” Umeh said, referring to Amaechi.
Addressing rumors circulating in political circles, Umeh reiterated that the meeting should not be misconstrued as a strategic move to influence the outcome of the party’s presidential ticket.
“There was no negotiation of that nature. Nobody asked anybody to step down. Both of them are aware that they are in the race,” he stated.
His comments come amid heightened political activities within the ADC, as prominent figures continue consultations ahead of future electoral contests. The party has increasingly become a focal point for opposition alignment, drawing interest from multiple aspirants.
Observers say such meetings are typical in political environments where aspirants seek to understand one another’s positions and explore possible areas of cooperation, even while maintaining individual ambitions.
Umeh, however, maintained that transparency should guide public interpretation of such engagements, noting that speculation often distorts the true purpose of political consultations.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
