BREAKING: “People Think You Have Resources Because You Set Up City Boys” – Amadi Fires

Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, has reacted to the recent clash involving “City Boys” and “Village Boys” in Owerri, saying the incident reflects the growing frustration among citizens facing economic hardship.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Amadi explained that the chaos reportedly occurred during a political outreach event where items such as laptops and other materials were brought for distribution.

According to accounts from the incident, tensions rose when a group identified as village youths disrupted the exercise and carted away some of the items meant for distribution. The development later resulted in a confrontation between groups described as City Boys and Village Boys.

Amadi said the situation highlights how many Nigerians feel politicians only remember them during election seasons. He noted that the present economic hardship in the country has made citizens more sensitive to political displays of wealth and resources.

“You set up the city boys; People sit back and think you guys have this kind of resources; People are not foolish,” Amadi said while reacting to the incident.

According to him, many citizens interpret such gestures as attempts to influence voters rather than genuine efforts to improve their welfare. He added that widespread hunger and economic pressure have increased public anger.

Amadi warned that if the suffering among citizens continues, similar confrontations could occur during political activities in different parts of the country.
