In a recent interview shared by Arise News, the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, addressed the controversy surrounding the reported defection of Bala Mohammed to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Speaking during the interview, Mohammed dismissed the development as misleading, insisting that the Bauchi State governor was no longer a member of the PDP long before the reported move. He stated, “For a very long time, Bala Mohammed has not been a member of our party; he and Makinde were expelled in November.” The clarification was aimed at countering claims that the PDP had recently lost a serving governor to another political platform.
Mohammed further stressed that the party’s records clearly reflect its membership status and disciplinary actions, noting that the expulsion of affected individuals was carried out in line with established procedures. According to him, the PDP had already taken a firm position on the matter months ago.
He added that the party would not be drawn into unnecessary debates over what he described as a non-issue, reiterating that the leadership remains focused on consolidating its structure and strengthening internal discipline across all levels.
