According to a report by Arise News, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cleared its three presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s direct primary election scheduled for Monday, May 25, as preparations intensify for the 2027 general election. The cleared contenders are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Hayatu-Deen Mohammed.
Arise News reported that the party also approved the participation of hundreds of other aspirants across various elective positions. These include 513 House of Representatives aspirants, 109 senatorial candidates, and 80 governorship hopefuls. All cleared aspirants are expected to participate in the party primaries within their respective wards nationwide beginning on Monday, May 25.
The presidential screening committee, chaired by former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, confirmed that the presidential nomination exercise would be conducted through direct primaries across the federation’s 8,809 wards. Other members of the committee include Hon. CID Maduabum, Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Hon. Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Prof. David Salifu, and Col. Abubakar Ali Ciroma (rtd.).
According to Arise News, a source within the committee disclosed that discussions were held with the aspirants regarding possible consensus arrangements, but none of them agreed to step down for another candidate. The source explained that the committee therefore advised the party leadership to proceed with preparations for the direct primary election in line with directives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking after his screening, Amaechi maintained that he remains fully committed to contesting for the presidency and rejected suggestions that he might accept a vice-presidential role. He stated that he did not purchase the party’s nomination form to become anyone’s running mate.
Arise News further reported that Amaechi also pledged to abolish the federal character principle if elected president, arguing that all Nigerians should enjoy equal citizenship rights regardless of ethnic or regional background. Meanwhile, Hayatu-Deen reportedly stated that he would abide by whatever decision the party leadership eventually makes regarding the contest.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
