According to a report by Channels Television on Monday, June 1, 2026, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has criticised Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State and minister of transportation, for what he calls a “political miscalculation” in running for president in 2027 on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket.

These comments were delivered by Wike on Monday during his monthly Abuja media interaction, during which he reviewed party activities and recent political events in preparation for the 2027 general election.

He stated that the ADC’s internal balance and leadership structure during the primary made the process predictable, and that this raised issues about fairness.

According to Wike, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has substantial support within the party’s internal framework, and the party leadership structure favours him.

He went on to say that the appointment of David Mark, a former president of the Senate, as party chairman indicated a pre-aligned structure that affected predictions about the contest’s outcome.

You learn the ins and outs of the political system by your experiences. Wike stated, “When I saw the set-up, I knew it was heading in this direction.” He went on to say that he thought Amaechi ran for office without properly evaluating the platform’s internal workings.

Rushing into partnerships without proper assessment frequently results in preventable failures, he argued, adding that political decisions are best made with a thorough knowledge of party structures.

To back up his claim regarding competitive party processes, Wike brought up his history of conflicts with Atiku Abubakar and other party members, as well as previous internal battles inside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His remarks followed Atiku Abubakar’s declaration as the ADC presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, which he won by a landslide margin.

Amaechi, who placed second, disagreed with the decision and said there were anomalies; she also said the process was neither fair or inclusive.

Muslim businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen was another contender who placed third.

Reportedly, Atiku has met separately with important candidates in an attempt to calm tensions and foster unity wi thin the party following the primary exercise.

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
