According to a report by Reuters on Thursday, May 28, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump has said he is not concerned about political consequences linked to a prolonged conflict with Iran, insisting that Tehran’s leadership misjudged the situation if they believed upcoming midterm elections would influence his decisions.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday, Trump rejected the idea that electoral pressure would shape his approach to the ongoing conflict.
“They thought they were going to outwait me,” Trump said, referring to Iranian leaders. “You know, ‘We’ll outwait him. He’s got the midterms.’ I don’t care about the midterms.”
Trump initially projected that the conflict could last between four and six weeks. However, it has now stretched close to four months, with shifting timelines previously offered by the president, including suggestions that it could end quickly or continue for an extended period.
His latest comments come as discussions continue within his administration on how to bring the conflict to a close. The remarks may also heighten concerns among some Republican figures who have already expressed unease about the economic impact of the situation, particularly rising fuel prices.
Public concern over inflation and energy costs has added to political pressure on the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections, where it is expected to face a competitive race for control of Congress.
During the same meeting, Trump referenced recent political developments in Texas, pointing to the primary victory of Ken Paxton over Senator John Cornyn, a result he linked to his endorsement.
“Look at what happened last night,” Trump said. “That was a prelude to the midterms.”
Paxton, who has faced legal and personal controversies, defeated Cornyn in the Republican primary, shifting attention to what is expected to be a closely watched Senate contest.
Trump also mentioned ongoing federal construction projects in Washington, including renovations around the White House, which some lawmakers have criticized as a distraction from economic priorities.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
