BREAKING: So-Called Faction Of Nafiu Bala Is A Creation Of Tinubu Govt And Amupitan To Subvert Democracy —Ibe

In a recent statement via his official X account, Paul Ibe, spokesman to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has spoken out on the leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that there is no legitimate faction within the party.

‎”There are no factions in the @ADCNig. What you have is the African Democratic Congress led by Sen. David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary. The so-called faction of Nafiu Bala is a creation of the Tinubu-led APC government and Amupitan to subvert democracy. The media need to take editorial notice of this. @ARISEtv @abati1990,” he wrote.

‎In his post, Ibe maintained that the ADC remains united under the leadership of former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman, alongside Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary and argued that any claim suggesting the existence of a rival faction is misleading and politically motivated.

‎Ibe specifically dismissed the group linked to Nafiu Bala, describing it as an artificial creation designed to cause confusion within the opposition, according to him, the situation is part of a broader strategy to weaken the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎The Atiku spokesman alleged that forces within the ruling administration of President Bola Tinubu are working in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to interfere in the internal affairs of opposition parties and warned that such actions could undermine democratic principles and limit political competition.

‎Ibe called on the media to pay closer attention to developments surrounding the ADC and urged journalists and editors to carefully examine claims about party leadership and avoid amplifying narratives that could distort public understanding of the situation.

‎He stated that democracy depends on strong and credible opposition parties, according to him, any attempt to destabilize or fragment such parties would weaken the overall political system and reduce voters’ ability to make meaningful choices.
