BREAKING: Gwarzo, Ex-Abacha Spymaster, Sick, Admitted To Hospital

Former National Security Adviser under late Head of State General Sani Abacha, Alhaji Sama’ila Gwarzo, has been admitted to a hospital in Kano after falling ill.

Sources close to the family said the elder statesman was rushed to a private medical facility following a brief health challenge, although details surrounding his condition were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.

The development has since attracted a stream of sympathizers and well-wishers, including politicians, business associates and traditional title holders, many of whom have continued to offer prayers for his recovery.

Among those who recently visited the ailing former intelligence chief was former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who paid a sympathy visit and prayed for his quick recovery.

Speaking during the visit, Aminu Gwarzo described the former spymaster as a man who dedicated a significant part of his life to national service and stability, stressing that Kano and the country at large still value his experience and contributions.

Sama’ila Gwarzo, an retired influential spymaster from Kano, served as National Security Adviser during the Abacha regime in the 1990s, where he played a prominent role in Nigeria’s security architecture at the time.

Though largely out of active public service in recent years, the former security chief remains a respected figure within northern political circles and has continued to maintain close ties with several power blocs across the country.

As news of his hospitalization spread, prayers for his recovery continued to pour in from supporters and associates, with many describing his illness as a moment of concern for Kano’s political and elder statesmen community.
