In a recent interview shared by TVC News, the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Haruna Mohammed, addressed growing concerns about internal divisions within the party and its relationship with key political figures.
Responding to criticisms surrounding the role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Mohammed dismissed claims that the PDP is being influenced or controlled by individuals aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that the party remains independent and guided by its established leadership structure.
Highlighting Wike’s recent visit to the PDP national secretariat, Mohammed questioned the narrative being pushed by critics. He stated, “Did you see him open any office and say that this is Wike’s office at the PDP National Secretariat?” According to him, the visit was purely symbolic and demonstrated respect for party supremacy rather than any attempt to dominate its affairs.
Mohammed maintained that the PDP continues to function as a unified political platform despite ongoing disagreements and legal disputes. He noted that internal challenges are being addressed through constitutional processes and party mechanisms.
He further reassured supporters that the PDP is focused on strengthening its structure and preparing to offer credible alternatives to Nigerians, positioning itself as a viable contender in the 2027 general elections.
