According to Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that Abuja will witness a major transformation before the end of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first term, assuring residents that infrastructure development will continue despite the approaching election cycle.

Wike made this known during the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Southern Parkway service carriageways in the Gaduwa District of Abuja.

At the event, he reiterated the determination of the FCT Administration to maintain momentum on ongoing projects, describing the current efforts as part of a broader infrastructure revolution aimed at modernising the capital city.

The ceremony was performed by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, who represented the party at the occasion.

Speaking on the expected impact of the projects, Wike declared, “Let me say clearly, by the time Mr President finishes his first tenure on May 29, 2027, before he is sworn in as President for a second tenure, the landscape of Abuja would have entirely changed, to the glory of God.”

He emphasised that the administration is focused on delivering visible and lasting improvements across the city.

Addressing speculations that political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections might slow down development, the minister dismissed such concerns.

He maintained that project execution would proceed without interruption, stressing that governance and infrastructural growth remain top priorities.

According to him, the FCT Administration is committed to ensuring that all ongoing projects are completed as planned, regardless of the political calendar, thereby guaranteeing sustained progress and enhanced living conditions for residents of the nation’s capital.
