BREAKING: We Left PDP For ADC Because We Won’t Run A System That Encourages One-Man Government – Ologbondiyan
According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Saturday, July 18, 2026, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, explained the reason behind his decision to leave the PDP for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying it was based on his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
Speaking during a discussion on the country’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ologbondiyan said his defection was motivated by the need to promote a political system that allows for effective opposition rather than one dominated by a single political force.
He said, “Those of us who left the PDP for the ADC did so because we believe we should not run a system that encourages one-man government.”
According to him, a healthy democracy requires a strong opposition that can question government policies, demand accountability, and ensure that elected leaders fulfill the promises they make to citizens.
Ologbondiyan maintained that political competition should focus on improving governance and protecting democratic values instead of merely seeking power. He argued that opposition parties have a responsibility to provide Nigerians with credible alternatives and hold those in government accountable.
He also urged Nigerians to pay close attention to the actions and commitments of political leaders, stressing that citizens must continue to demand transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership as the country prepares for future elections.
