The delay is due to the fact that some players expected to be in the list are currently facing a race against time to be fit for the games, with a decision expected to be taken on their participation later this week.
Already the technical crew has lined up replacements for the players who are in doubt for the games, and among them is a relatively unknown winger in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
” The idea will be to call up a player from the NPFL if Chukwueze isn’t passed fit. We have four of them in the provisional list hence moving them to the main list won’t be an issue at all. There is a winger there who will no doubt replace Chukwueze if he isn’t fit for these games”, a source at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) hinted.
