SHOCKING: Jailed Man Alleges €50K Offer From Mystery Handlers In Iran TV Espionage Case

According to a report by The Times of Israel, a man jailed in the United Kingdom for spying on the offices of the anti-regime outlet Iran International has said he was offered €50,000 (approximately $58,000) by his handlers.

The man, identified as Magomed-Husejn Dovtaev, a 33-year-old Austrian national of Chechen origin, is understood to have recently been freed and deported to Austria last week, the report said.

According to the Sunday Times, Dovtaev disclosed the alleged payment offer during a recent parole board hearing. He told the hearing that he was promised €50,000 by individuals described as his handlers in connection with the spying activity targeting the London-based media organisation.

The newspaper report stated that while British police were unable to conclusively prove that Dovtaev received direct instructions from Tehran, investigators strongly suspected that his activities were linked to Iranian authorities.

The case is part of wider concerns raised by UK officials over alleged espionage and covert activity linked to foreign intelligence operations on British soil. Iran International, the organisation targeted in the spying case, is known for its critical coverage of Iran’s government and operates from the United Kingdom.

The parole board disclosure comes at a time of heightened security concerns in London. According to the report, there have been a series of attacks on Jewish targets in the city in recent weeks, which are believed by investigators to be connected to Iranian security services. British police have issued warnings, cautioning what they described as “thugs for hire” against carrying out attacks.

The Sunday Times report also notes that there have been an increasing number of cases involving Israelis allegedly recruited by Iran to carry out espionage and acts of vandalism, suggesting a broader pattern of covert operations being investigated by authorities.

Dovtaev’s case adds to ongoing scrutiny in the UK over alleged foreign-directed activities targeting individuals, media outlets, and communities. While details of his specific conviction and sentencing were not fully outlined in the report, his parole board comments have drawn attention due to the claimed financial offer and the suspected links under investigation.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed any direct connection between Dovtaev’s case and other ongoing investigations, but the report indicates that UK security services continue to monitor suspected foreign influence operations and related criminal activity within the country.
