BREAKING: Kano Neighbourhood Watch Arrests Four Over Alleged Drug Activities In Gwale
The Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Security Corps has arrested four suspects in Gwale Local Government Area over alleged involvement in illicit drug activities, reaffirming its commitment to community safety and professionalism.
The Commander-General of the Corps, Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik, disclosed this while parading the suspects before journalists.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, the Corps called on members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to strengthen efforts aimed at maintaining peace, law and order across the state.
He stated that the operation followed complaints from residents about the increasing presence of individuals suspected of engaging in drug-related activities in the area.
According to him, the Corps acted on credible intelligence to carry out a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the suspects. The exercise was supervised by the Director of Operations, Habibu Balarabe Madigawa, alongside Sector Commander 1, Kabiru Isyaku.
Abdulmalik emphasised that the Corps remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, noting that it will continue to collaborate with communities and other security agencies to combat crime and social vices across Kano State.
He added that professionalism, discipline and diligence would continue to guide the Corps in the discharge of its duties.
The suspects, Ahmad Sani, Halifa Umar, Sadiq Umar and Sulaiman Abubakar, were said to have confessed to their involvement in the alleged activities and appealed for leniency, promising to reform.
The Corps said the suspects would be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
