BREAKING: Ghalibaf: “If You Fight, We Will Fight” Says Iran Showed Goodwill, Rejects Trump Threats

According to a report by Sky News on Sunday, April 12, 2026, Iranian officials have said their delegation presented constructive proposals during recent talks with the United States, describing them as efforts to demonstrate goodwill and advance negotiations.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, identified as a leading figure in Iran’s negotiating team, said Tehran approached the discussions with a readiness to engage and move the process forward. According to remarks reported by Iranian state media, he stated that Iran’s initiatives contributed to progress during parts of the dialogue.

Ghalibaf also addressed recent statements by United States President Donald Trump, including references to a potential blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. He said such warnings would not alter Iran’s position or approach.

“If you fight, we will fight, and if you come forward with logic, we will deal with logic,” he said, outlining Tehran’s stance on both confrontation and diplomacy.

The talks, held in Pakistan, brought together U.S. and Iranian delegations in an effort to reach an agreement aimed at ending ongoing hostilities that began on 28 February following a joint U.S.-Israeli operation targeting Iran.

Despite extended discussions, the negotiations ended without a breakthrough. U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Iran did not accept key terms proposed by Washington, including commitments related to nuclear activities.

Iranian officials, however, said the United States failed to build sufficient trust during the discussions, contributing to the breakdown in talks.

The outcome highlights continuing divisions between the two sides on core issues, including security, nuclear policy, and mutual guarantees. Diplomatic efforts remain uncertain as both countries assess their next steps following the unsuccessful round of negotiations.
