BREAKING: Ememobong Raises Alarm — “We Don’t Want Victory That Destroys Nigeria”

Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, has raised a significant alarm regarding the current state of Nigerias democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking on the implications of the recently concluded Ibadan Declaration, the party spokesperson emphasized that the primary objective of the opposition coalition is the total survival of the nation rather than a mere quest for power through any available crooked means.

According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Channels Television, while discussing the strategic coming together of various opposition political parties in the city of Ibadan, he stated, “we don’t want to win a rigged election, we don’t want to win an election and lose Nigeria.” This powerful assertion highlights a deep seated concern within the political class regarding the potential for widespread civil unrest if electoral integrity is compromised.

The publicity secretary further explained that the historical references made during the declaration were intended to serve as a necessary cautionary guide for the current administration. By invoking the memories of the 1965 political crisis in the old Western Region, the opposition aims to remind those in power that certain actions often carry heavy consequences. He insisted that the current federal government is behaving in ways that mirror the past mistakes.

Strategic political engineering is currently underway to ensure that a one party state is not forced upon the Nigerian citizens through the asphyxiation of opposing voices. Ememobong noted that the opposition is now focusing on datadriven decisions to present a single, formidable presidential candidate who can truly represent the interests of the masses. He argued that a viable and competitive democracy is essential for the economic and social stability of Nigeria.

Despite the immense pressure of time and the various internal crises within different political subsets, the leadership remains committed to providing a credible alternative for the electorate. The goal is to create a level playing field where the people, not the institutions of state or flawed electoral acts, determine the final outcome. For the opposition, winning a fair contest is the only way to truly secure the future of the republic.
