BREAKING: Israel Accused of Repeated Ceasefire Violations in Lebanon as Death Toll Reportedly Surpasses 2,500
According to a report by Anadolu English, on Monday April 27, 2026, Israeli military operations across Lebanon have killed over 2,500 people and displaced over 1.6 million since March 2.
This humanitarian toll continues to escalate despite an internationally brokered truce that is now under severe strain. Hezbollah claims that Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement it reached with Lebanon.
On Monday, Hezbollah justified two drone strikes against Israeli military infrastructure in southern Lebanon by citing the ongoing violations. I
n the village of Al-Qantara, the group’s fighters allegedly claimed a direct hit on an Israeli tank using a drone. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a second operation in which it used a drone to attack an Israeli military bulldozer in Bint Jbeil, which was destroying civilian homes. The group also claimed credit for a confirmed hit.
Hezbollah, a Lebanese group, made no secret of the fact that it blamed Israel for the ongoing violations of the ceasefire terms, including the systematic destruction of civilian residential properties and the persistent targeting of southern Lebanese villages.
While Hezbollah has claimed direct hits on armoured military equipment, the Israeli military has stated that no casualties were reported as a result of either strike, although they did confirm that a Hezbollah drone had exploded near their forces in the south and that another had been intercepted.
After 10 days of negotiations, Israel and Lebanon announced a ceasefire on April 17, which they are now openly opposing. Israeli actions against southern villages and the demolition of homes were alleged by Hezbollah and Lebanese officials as proof of bad faith implementation by the Israeli side, almost from the moment the truce went into effect.
Diplomatic efforts have persisted in spite of those breaches. Following a second round of talks between representatives of the two nations conducted in Washington, United States, President Trump stated on Thursday that Lebanon and Israel have agreed to extend the truce by three weeks.
Despite the increasing frequency and public acknowledgement of military actions on the ground, the announcement indicated that the United States is committed to stabilising the war through diplomatic means.
