BREAKING: Ohuabunwa Sends Strong Message — “We Are Citizens, We Must Obey the Law”
In a recent interview shared by Arise TV, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law amid ongoing political disputes within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and across Nigeria’s broader democratic space.
Addressing concerns over internal party conflicts and the tension surrounding pending court decisions, Ohuabunwa noted that political actors and citizens alike must demonstrate maturity and commitment to democratic principles. He explained that the stability of both political parties and the nation depends largely on the willingness of stakeholders to accept legal outcomes, even when they may not align with personal interests.
He stated that, “Whatever the law says, as responsible Nigerians and citizens we should respect and obey it.” The statement highlights his belief that adherence to judicial decisions is fundamental to maintaining order and preventing further divisions within the political system.
Ohuabunwa also pointed out that selective obedience to the law weakens institutions and undermines public trust in governance. He urged political leaders to set the right example by prioritizing national interest over individual ambitions, especially during periods of uncertainty.
He concluded by stressing that respect for the rule of law remains a cornerstone of democracy, adding that consistent obedience to legal frameworks will help strengthen Nigeria’s political institutions and ensure a more stable and credible electoral process ahead of future elections.
