These devices were used in ancient history to torture those that were on the wrong side of the law, or perhaps anyone who defied the rulings of the king.
7. Guillotine
Famous and probably the most preferred method of execution. The guillotined was used by King Louis Xavier . The victim’s head was severed by an extremely sharp razor blade attached to a rope.
6. The Rack
The heretics were laid onto a table and their limbs(arms &ankles) were pulled apart until they ripped apart from the body.
5. Heretics fork
It is said that this was used by the church itself, this neckwear contained a sharp fork that pierced the throat and lower jaw. It was not really a fatal device but as time went on victims would get weary of looking upwards, then the device would start piercing the throat as they lowered the head.
4. Spanish donkey
The victims would straddle a sharp triangular board with heavy weights added onto their feet to pull them down. The body would split apart as it was pulled by weights toward the board.
3. Pear of anguish
A metal pear shaped device that expanded. The device would be inserted onto the victim’s mouth and expanded until it explodes the skull. In certain cases the device would be inserted onto the anus to deliver great pain.
2. Brazen bull
This was basically cooking a human being alive. This metal bull has a door/entrance on its stomach. The victim would be put inside and then cooked alive by the fire lit underneath.
1. Rat Torture
The most painful of all was the “rat torture”. This was a cage or box with one open side strapped onto the victim. Fire was then lit on one side of the box, the rats would start digging through the victim’s stomach as they tried to escape.
