As men age, it’s normal for the body to change, but when it comes to urinary health, certain signs should never be ignored. One of the first warning signs is frequent urination, especially waking up multiple times at night to go to the bathroom, which can disrupt sleep and affect overall well-being. Another sign is difficulty starting to urinate or a weak stream, which can indicate an enlarged prostate or other underlying issues.
Pain or burning during urination is a red flag that could signal an infection, like a urinary tract infection (UTI) or even a more serious condition such as prostatitis.
Blood in the urine, while sometimes dismissed, is never normal and should always be checked by a doctor, as it could point to bladder stones, infection, or even bladder or kidney cancer.
Men may also notice leakage or dribbling after urination, or a feeling that the bladder isn’t fully empty. These symptoms could stem from an enlarged prostate (BPH) or nerve-related problems. It’s important to listen to your body and not brush these signs off as just part of getting older.
Early diagnosis and treatment can make a huge difference in managing these conditions effectively and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle.
