Chelsea Star Trevoh Chalobah Reaches Agreement To Leave Stamford Bridge
According to a report by Teamtalk on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Chelsea’s summer rebuild continues to gather pace, with reports claiming an agreement has been reached for Trevoh Chalobah’s departure, while Enzo Fernandez is also emerging as a serious candidate to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.
Following the appointment of Xabi Alonso after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, Chelsea have accelerated their squad overhaul ahead of the new season.
The Blues have already spent close to £100 million on new signings and have balanced much of that expenditure through player sales, but further exits remain a key part of their restructuring plans.
Chalobah appears to be next in line. The academy graduate has been made available for transfer, with Serie A side Como—managed by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas—leading the chase for his signature.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, via Sport Witness, an “agreement has been reached” over Chalobah’s move, with Como now “ready to close the deal” and a “final meeting scheduled” to complete the transfer.
Although the report does not disclose the transfer fee, Chelsea are believed to be seeking around £30 million for the England defender.
Meanwhile, Fernandez’s future is becoming increasingly uncertain despite his impressive performances last season.
The Argentine midfielder was widely regarded as one of Chelsea’s standout performers, but speculation over his long-term future continues to intensify.
Reports from talkSPORT claim Jose Mourinho’s side have identified Fernandez as a priority target this summer, although any deal will depend on Real Madrid matching Chelsea’s reported valuation of €120 million (£105 million).
Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise believes Chelsea could struggle to keep hold of the World Cup-winning midfielder if Real Madrid formalise their interest.
Riise told bestbettingsites: “For players coming from South American countries, when Real Madrid or someone of that stature comes in, it’s really hard to keep them. It’s incredibly difficult. We’ve seen it before.
“Also, there have been some issues with Fernández at Chelsea under the previous management when Liam Rosenior left him out for a couple of games. If they try to block a move to Madrid, it’s going to cause too many issues at the club.
“They have a new manager now, so it all depends on what the new manager thinks and whether Enzo likes the manager’s style or not. But if Real Madrid come calling, it’s hard to keep a player.”
With Chelsea continuing to reshape their squad under Alonso, Chalobah’s expected departure could soon be followed by an even bigger decision over Fernandez.
Whose future may depend on whether Real Madrid are prepared to meet the Blues’ asking price.
