The 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony concluded on Monday in Paris, with Ousmane Dembele winning the best player in the world award.
From the Kopa Trophy (youngest player) to the Gerd Müller (Best Striker) to Ballon d’Or féminin, many awards were given out to players who had incredible 2024 campaigns.
This prestigious individual award, started in 1956 by France Football, has witnessed many evolutions. In 1995, the award was open to all players playing in Europe, which saw George Weah winning it, a significant moment for the whole of Africa.
Fast forward to 2018, France Football expanded the honour with the Ballon d’Or Féminin, making sure women’s football also takes centre stage.
